VBAC

Tips

  • What is your WHY? It’s important to know why you want a VBAC as this helps you to understand your intentions, values and helps with intentional preparation

  • Have a birth debrief, process and integrate what happened and where the most concerns or dissatisfaction is

  • Understand your previous birth(s) by getting the notes from the hospital or care providers, you can meet with a midwife to help sometimes too.

  • Know the system and in particular your hospital or location of birth

  • Understand what true emergencies are and the scenarios that could come up so you are prepared in the event this becomes part of your VBAC

  • Gather a solid team of people to support you in all aspects that matter to you. Inform them what safety and support is like for you when it is done well as this is different for us all.

  • Do Birthmapping - plan for ALL potential pathways including caesarean
