introducing a sliding scale investment for birth support
In 2025 I am introducing a sliding scale for my birth support services, I have never done this before and in doing so I recognise I may do this imperfectly. But, the essence of what I am trying to do is genuine and I think is more important to me than bringing this offering to the community when I feel it is “perfect”.
The sliding scale for me is about honouring different financial realities, not creating stress. To me this looks like, people choosing their own tier without the feel that they need to justify this. I believe you and your assessment of your life and reality, just as I believe that EVERYONE should have access to the kind of support that I offer.
I recognise that even the Tier 1 that I have offered, is for many, wildly out of scope and so please know that I offer these tiers while also considering my own situation and am offering myself the same grace which I offer to the community. In doing so, I hope to meet you where you are at and hope you will meet me where I am.
When you engage my services at Tier 2 or Tier 3, $75 and $100 respectively will be donated to Birth For Humankind which is a local not for profit organisations that provides free and volunteer based services to women and birthing people in Victoria for birth and postpartum support. If these causes feel like it matters and you are able, I encourage you to donate to this very epic service. I will transparently share this information on an annual basis.
The approach of a sliding scale model seeks to enable individuals to pay for services or resources based on their financial capacity. This approach fosters inclusivity and accessibility, ensuring everyone has the possibility to participate equitably.
