Postpartum Planning
I must admit I do genuinely love and hate a plan; but making goals can be an important step towards getting where you want to go!
This is a simple planner designed to visualise and take action on some key aspects of a supported, nourishing and healing postpartum experience. The idea is to make goals that are SMART, goals that are are a little challenging but not out of reach. Build up as you go. You won’t do everything everyday or every week; but it’s a great way to log what happens and then take time to reflect.
What’s a SMART goal you ask?
Specific; it needs to explain what you are accomplishing and what steps are required to get there.
Example: I want to use my phone less could become I want to reduce my phone screen time in the evenings.
Measurable; how will you be able to track your progress without being able to measure it.
Example: I want to reduce my phone screen time in the evenings could become I will spend less than 30 minutes on my phone every night.
Achievable; No point setting yourself up to fail, ease into it. Is your goal realistic or are you trying to jump ten steps ahead? You might realise you goal is a bit lofty and start a little slower.
Example: I will spend less than 30 minutes on my phone every night could become I will spend less than 60 minutes on my phone every night.
Relevant; Why are you setting this goal, what is behind it? What will motivate you to achieve it. Without the why, sometimes it can be like well… what for?
Example: I will spend less than 60 minutes on my phone every night could become I want to be more present with my partner by spending less than 60 minutes on my phone every night we will have more time to talk and connect.
Time- specific; this is why setting up more achievable goals with a use by date is so powerful, you get to review and assess how you went and then to massage your goals as you go along; replacing or rejigging the goals that will make you feel happy and experience joy!
Example: I want to be more present with my partner by spending less than 60 minutes on my phone every night we will have more time to talk and connect could become I want to be more present with my partner by spending less than 60 minutes on my phone every night for the month of September so that we will have more time to talk and connect.
